Fallen Heroes Series - SGT Jake Herring - US Army Stryker

RELEASE DATE: NOV. 27, 2006

Jake is the inspiration for the annual National Tour that has taken us "Around the World" over the last four years.

After being wounded in the desert, and receiving the Purple Heart, Jake chose to remain with his unit. Having healed, he went on a mission, was mortally wounded, and died the following day, 28 April 2004. Jake was 21 years old.

Jake was a member of the 520th Inf, Charlie Company.  He was based out of Fort Lewis.  His unit has deployed and returned ... again.  We salute them!

Jake had been a high school football captain. At the ceremony celebrating his life, his #55 jersey was retired. We decided to keep Jake's memory alive, and thus honor all of our Fallen & Wounded, by driving the national tour to 55 cities every year, to thank our First Responders for their continued nonpolitical support of our desert-deployed Troops.

Jake is the first Honoree in the Fallen Heroes Series.  Sadly, it is not likely that he will be the last.
