THE FIFTH & FINAL TOUR FOR HERO TO HERO!
Greetings all!
Wanted to bring you up to speed on the program. Big decisions ... Big changes. Normally these messages are written from the team, but this one comes from me personally.
1st change is that the docs and I think that doing one more tour is a viable reality!!! Sooo ...
The "We Have Not Forgotten" tour is slated to begin on April 30th, and finish on June 18th, 2011.
We are in the process of setting up the 55 official stops on this SEVEN WEEK tour across the United States and into (Ontario) Canada. There will be three - hopefully four - of us on the road for this final go round. Kelly Averbeck is a definite tour rider, and I am so happy and honored to have her with us to the end!
This will be the final tour for us, with our goal being to revisit as many of our past stops as possible, to say Thank You for the support, get & give some farewell hugs, and salute each & every department that has stood strong with us since we began back in 2003.
Lastly, the biggest change/decision ... The program will officially come to a close on September 11, 2011
This decision was not reached easily, but the reality is that I should have probably closed it down when health problems first became a factor about three years ago, and the docs said to close it. But being the stubborn person I am, and having committed to do this "as long as I'm physically able, or the troops come home from Iraq" to honor Jake - I can look in the mirror say I've done my best for troop morale/support.
Our team members have come and gone over the past seven years, but the determination to keep this going has been strong. On that point, this decision affects ONLY the Hero To Hero Troop Morale Campaign in the United States.
Hero To Hero Team Canada is still going strong - very proud of them - and when the time comes that they make their decision to close, you will be notified as well. But NO CHANGES TO THE CANADIAN PROGRAM at this time!
Just wanted to keep you up to speed with the latest. We - I - thank each and every one of you for your support over the years. Please know that your involvement in the Hero To Hero Troop Morale Campaign brought smiles and laughter and heart touching moments to our deployed troops and their loved ones.
We've already been asked how you can best support us for the upcoming tour, and we are working on ideas - and accepting them as well - for just that.
We will be setting a Paypal donation button on the site, and will happily accept any donations you are able and willing to send for gas, food, lodging, etc., on the road.
We also encourage you to stay tuned for the tentative tour map. We could be coming to YOUR town! Or you might have road suggestions for us ... You can help make this trip even more fun. Afterall this is about morale, right?
So hopefully you'll stay with us to the end. But in any event, please accept my heartfelt THANKS for your support.
And Jake - Hope we have all done you and all of our fallen and wounded, proud!
Many thanks & much respect, ( ' Liz
